New in Version 4.2

Version 4.2 was a minor version change and is a direct result of feedback from the OVAL community. Version 4.2 changes to the OVAL Definition Schema, OVAL System Characteristics Schema, and/or OVAL Results Schema includes the addition of a component schema for HP-UX and a modification to the OVAL-ID format.

Version 4.2 of the Definition Schema, System Characteristics Schema, and Results Schema includes the following:

  • Addition of a component schema for HP-UX
  • Modification to the OVAL-ID format
  • The ability to include more than one reference
  • Deprecated the rpmversioncompare_test of the redhat schema
  • Added the evr_version element to the rpminfo_test of the redhat schema
  • Added the signature_keyid to the rpminfo_test of the redhat schema
  • Added the rpmversion datatype

Status Reports on Version 4.2

[2005-12-2]

    Version 4.2 has moved to the "Official" stage. Refer to the Official OVAL Schemas page for more information.

[2005-10-21]

    Added the evr_version and signature_keyid elements to the rmpinfo_test to allow easier comparision of rpm versions and to verify the source of the rpm. Also deprecated the rpmversioncompare_test.

[2005-10-13]

    The first draft for Version 4.2 has now been released. This is a minor update that does not invalidate any existing content. The first draft includes the HP-UX schema and the modified OVAL-ID format. In addition, multiple references are now being allowed.

[2005-09-29]

    Version 4.2 is now in the planning stage. Version 4.2 changes to the OVAL Definition Schema, OVAL System Characteristics Schema, and/or OVAL Results Schema currently will include the addition of a component schema for HP-UX and a modification to the OVAL-ID format.
